Metro Atlanta Unites to Honor Fallen DeKalb Firefighter Preston Fant in Somber Procession

Several metro Atlanta agencies honored fallen DeKalb County firefighter Preston Fant with a solemn procession on Wednesday morning. The procession began at Fire Station No. 24 and concluded at the West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, with numerous fire and police vehicles participating along the route.

Fant, who served for 21 years, tragically died while attempting to rescue a fellow firefighter during a blaze, marking him as the first DeKalb firefighter to die in the line of duty; he is survived by his wife and five children.
