Atlanta Courthouse Honors Victims on 20th Anniversary of Tragic Shooting with Moment of Silence
On March 11, 2025, the Fulton County Courthouse in downtown Atlanta paused to commemorate the 20th anniversary of a tragic shooting that resulted in the deaths of Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes, court reporter Julie Ann Brandau, and Fulton County sheriff deputy Sgt. Hoyt Teasley. Chief Deputy Curtis Clark reflected on the day, recalling the chaos and loss experienced, while Sheriff Patrick Labat honored Teasley’s heroic actions that ultimately led to the apprehension of the shooter, Brian Nichols. The memorial served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by public servants in the pursuit of justice.
During the ceremony, Chief Deputy Clark led a moment of silence as sheriff deputies and civilians gathered to remember the victims and honor their bravery.
