Atlanta Father Convicted in Tragic Death of 4-Year-Old Daughter and Abuse of Two Other Children
A father’s role is to protect and care for their children. However, for Rodney Andre McWeay, his actions led to the tragic death of his 4-year-old daughter, Treasure, and the abuse of his other two young children.
In December 2023, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive child in an Atlanta home. It was there where they discovered the shocking conditions in which the children were living. They were severely malnourished and dehydrated, surrounded by expired food and surveillance cameras.
McWeay had previously kidnapped the children from their legal guardian, and this heartbreaking crime ultimately revealed the consequences of his actions.
The Atlanta man was convicted on December 13, 2023, on 14 counts, including felony murder and cruelty to children. This case serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of child neglect and malnutrition, as McWeay’s surviving children were hospitalized for dehydration and malnourishment.
