DeKalb County Gas Station Shooting: Two Men Convicted of Murder in Tragic Death of Akhir Muhammad

DeKalb County has been rocked by the tragic death of 18-year-old Akhir Muhammad, who was fatally shot during an armed robbery on January 10, 2023. Two men, 20-year-old Quavion Hale and 18-year-old Stantavis Reese, have been convicted of malice murder and armed robbery in connection with his death.

The incident took place at a Shell gas station where Hale and Reese demanded Muhammad’s legally carried firearm before shooting him in the back. The two men were identified and linked to the crime through evidence including surveillance footage and social media posts. They are scheduled for sentencing in May and could face severe penalties.

This senseless act of violence highlights the urgent issue of gun violence in Atlanta. The loss of a young life like Muhammad’s is devastating and reminds us of the need for stricter gun control measures and harsher punishments for those who commit these heinous crimes.
