Devoted Atlanta Father Shot to Death After Stopping to Help Stranded Motorists: Arrest Made in 18 Month Investigation
Tragedy struck on Powers Ferry Road in March 2024, when 43-year-old Curtis Coleman, a devoted father of two, was found shot to death in his car. After an extensive 18-month investigation, Cobb County police announced the arrest of two suspects in Pennsylvania – 21-year-old Jayden M. Hooks and 23-year-old Malik Drake – charging them with felony murder and aggravated assault.
The heartbreaking news was made even more tragic by the circumstances leading up to Coleman’s death. According to a family friend, he had stopped to assist the stranded motorists, who then attempted to rob him and ultimately took his life.
The community has been left reeling by this senseless act of violence against a beloved neighbor and father. Coleman was described as a kind and generous man, known for always lending a helping hand to those in need.
While nothing can bring Coleman back to his family and loved ones, the arrests provide some measure of justice and closure. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
