Teen Charged with Murder in Fatal MARTA Shooting
The DeKalb County courthouse was the site of a preliminary hearing for a 16-year-old boy who stands accused of fatally shooting MARTA driver Leroy Ramos on January 3. The ongoing investigation and legal proceedings have highlighted the tragic nature of this Atlanta crime case.
The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office announced that charges have been dropped for two other teenagers involved in the case, while proceeding with felony murder and aggravated assault charges against the unnamed teen. However, it is still undecided whether the accused will be tried as a juvenile or an adult.
The shooting reportedly started as a dispute over a fare at the Decatur station, which quickly turned physical before the alleged shooter opened fire.
This incident has raised questions about the appropriate course of action in cases involving juveniles and the serious consequences of their actions.
