The trial of Edrick Faust, charged with the 2001 murder of University of Georgia law student Tara Baker, has been rescheduled to January 26, 2024, following a request for more time by his defense attorney due to the extensive case files.

Faust, arrested in May 2024 after a lengthy investigation, faces multiple charges including malice murder and arson, with new DNA evidence leading to his arrest. The case, which has been reopened by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, highlights the challenges of managing extensive evidence in a timely manner.

Edrick Faust, a suspect in the 2001 murder of UGA law student Tara Baker, will have his day in court in January. Faust’s defense attorney, Ahmad R. Crews, requested the trial be delayed to give him more time to review the extensive case files before proceeding.

During a recent hearing, Judge Lisa Lott arranged for accommodations to assist Faust in reviewing his case, while simultaneously denying a motion for paper copies of the files. This decision emphasizes the need for efficient and organized management of evidence in criminal cases.
