Woodstock Introduces Paid Parking to Boost Downtown Business Amid Mixed Reactions from Residents and Employees

WOODSTOCK — Starting Monday, Woodstock’s downtown area will see a new initiative aimed at improving access to local businesses: paid parking. The program, approved by the Woodstock City Council in April, will charge $2 every two hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the first hour free. While some, like Ashley Salinas and Susan Moore, believe it will benefit local commerce, others, including Lori Miller, express concerns about losing the town’s small-town charm and the impact on employees who now face parking fees.

The new parking policy, which will be implemented starting Monday, has sparked mixed reactions among Woodstock residents. Some are supportive of the initiative, seeing it as a way to promote turnover and make it easier to access local businesses. Others, however, worry about the potential loss of the town’s charm and the burden on employees who now have to pay for parking.

This new parking program will have a significant impact on residents, visitors, and downtown businesses in Woodstock, just 30 minutes north of Atlanta. Only time will tell how the community will respond, but one thing is for sure: change is coming to Woodstock’s downtown.
