After a grueling three-year legal battle, Atlanta rapper Deamonte Kendrick, known as Yak Gotti, has been acquitted and set free. The emotional moment was captured as Kendrick smiled and raised his arms in celebration upon his release from Fulton County jail. As he embraced his attorneys and showed gratitude, it was clear that this was a moment he had been waiting for.
Kendrick, who is also known as Young Slime Life, had been facing multiple charges linked to gang activity. However, after entering a guilty plea for a single count of aggravated battery, all other charges were dropped. He was then sentenced to 12 years with nine months served and probation thereafter.
His attorney expressed relief at Kendrick’s release, emphasizing the importance of him reuniting with his family and moving forward after such a lengthy and exhausting trial. And although he may have been behind bars for nearly three years, Kendrick’s fans and supporters can finally breathe a sigh of relief as he can now focus on his music career and reunite with his loved ones.
